Is Instagram enough for a joiner?
It's a good portfolio, but it doesn't get you found. People search Google for "joiner near me" or "kitchen fitter Hamilton", and an Instagram page almost never comes up for those. DT Joinery, a one-man firm in Lanarkshire, was Instagram-only until I built his site. Now his real work is on a page Google can actually show.
What should a joiner's website show?
Your own photos, job by job, with the town. "Oak staircase, Bothwell" beats a stock image every time, for customers and for Google. Ten honest phone photos are worth more than any amount of copy. I'll sort, crop and caption them for you.
Which jobs need their own page?
The ones you want more of. For most joiners that means kitchens, staircases, internal doors, flooring, and extensions or loft work if you do it. Each one gets its own page with photos, what's involved, roughly how long it takes and a price range.
What I'd set up for a joiner
- A website built from scratch if you don't have one yet, or your current one kept and fixed
- A gallery per job type, captioned with town and materials
- Google Business Profile with the right main category and your services listed
- Photo posts to Google every month from jobs you've just finished
- A quote form that texts you, so enquiries reach you on site
- A QR review card to hand over when you finish a job
